Taking its roots from "Cerano de Bergerac", the teen flick brings old memories of such great youth films as "The Last American Virgin", "She's All That", and many more! Having its own weird twist of characters and plot, the films surely makes its audience relate to it the second it starts. Dealing with a popular and unpopular guys helping each other get dates with their friends, the film shows how true love can be right under your nose and you won't see it until its purely too late! Luckily, it's never too late in a movie!
The acting in "Whatever it Takes" was of your typical teen-flick, with your usual extremes in grooming and dating situations. Yet, that was what made it funny and interesting - just worthwhile seeing! Although not your Oscar nominee, the film is good for those who keep thinking that they are the only ones in the world who don't have someone. After seeing the movie, one sees, that there is true love and always someone for everyone. Although there are a million fish in the sea, you only want to catch that special one that doesn't get away.
The ironic thing about movies like "Whatever it Takes", is the effect it has on teenagers. After seeing it, you would think that everyone is gorgeous and cute, and looking at yourself will say that you are a lost hope. However, life if not like that and the people on the screen are just a handful of puppets. But, the interesting thing is, that mostly, the female character who is the "babe" of the school, is not a attractive as the lead "geek" female. Hey, go figure!
