SCARY MOVIE

Synopsis

Keenan Ivory Wayans directs this spoof which parodies the horror genre, from the classic to the contemporary. Joining forces with brothers Shawn and Marlon, as well as "Saturday Night Live's" Cheri Oteri and former MTV kitten Carmen Electra, the movie sets out to send up every horror cliche it can come up with.

Review

Good comedy is very hard to put together. A lot of times good comedy is hard to understand - that's why "Scary Movie" isn't. The film is full of sexual innuendo and numerous sexual extremes and stereotypes. Thinking that it wasn't that great? Well, you are wrong. I laughed so hard that my pants were almost wet. The unbelievable story of late 20s/early 30s actors playing high school teens took me places I have never been before.

The Wayans family is sure a talented bunch. The film had a semi-reunion of a partial cast of the hit show "In Living Color" and they did great! Ranging from weed - smoking Marlin to gay Shawn, the humor just never ended.

While the film was great, a couple of critical comments are in order. As a critics, I would have definitely enjoyed the film more, if the trailer for it did not include as many of the funny scenes as it did. Of course something had to be shown get the audience interested, but a smaller portion could have been shown. The reason for that, is because when I was watching the movie and those scenes came up, I knew exactly what was going to happen and when I should have been laughing harder than ever, I was just smirking.

All in all, the film continued the string of teenage sex - related comedy. "Scary Movie" took the idea of "American Pie" a step further. Now, all we have to do is sit back and watch what happens with the upcoming sequel to the desert flick.
