UNBREAKABLE
Synopsis
Director
M. Night Shyamalan reunites with his Sixth Sense star
Bruce Willis in this supernatural thriller about a security
guard who is the sole survivor of a devastating train
wreck. Samuel L. Jackson plays a crippled stranger who
helps Willis understand his miraculous ability to survive
all disasters, thus making him "unbreakable."
Review
"Unbreakable"
is definitely a film that provoked a varying list of reactions.
However, there were two groups that emerged miraculously
as the winning parties: the people who were totally for
the film and the people who were totally against the film.
One
thing that was absolutely obvious was the director's attempts
to recapture that feeling that "The Sixth Sense"
brought to the screen. However, while with excellent strides
for success, this film did not make it to the ranks of
its predecessor.
It
seemed that the introduction of the lengthy feature took
up most of the screen time, leaving only few precious
minutes to a brief explanation that did not capture the
hearts of audiences and surprise as many as the ghostly
ancestor did.
While
a brave attempt, "Unbreakable" only partially
succeeded in producing the dramatic effect for which it
was intended to. However, without attempts, there would
be no successes.
