WHAT
WOMEN WANT
Synopsis
Nick
Marshall (Mel Gibson), a competitive advertising executive
known for his chauvinistic commercials, gets passed over
for a promotion when his ideas are deemed outdated in
a country where women form the largest consumer demographic.
Fate deals Nick an ironic blow, however, when he acquires
the unlikely ability to read women's thoughts after a
freak accident.
Review
The
title of the film presents an intriguing question that
is not completely answered by the story of the film. However,
what comes out as an answer, women want to be noticed
and appreciated for themselves.
The
film presents an alternative to Mel Gibson's typical macho
persona of such films as the "Lethal Weapon"
series. He shows us that he is not only a pretty built
guy for his age [the six pack is quiet noticeable], but
also a great actor. Pairing up with an ensemble of talented
actors, Mel proves it to the opposite sex that he is a
softie after all.
While
pursuing an original theme, the film recollects the usual
men are from Mars, women are form Venus structure that
brings out the humorous side in both sexes. Over all a
great movie, "What Women Want" gets a B from
our Global team.
