PROOF
OF LIFE
Synopsis
When
an American engineer is kidnapped by rebel forces in a
Latin American country, his wife enlists the help of a
"freelance hostage negotiator." When they are unable to
pay the hefty ransom, they team up with a fellow negotiator
and lead a daring rescue effort into the jungle.
Review
When
you bring to the screen two powerful actors such as Meg
Ryan and Russell Crowe, you know that you are in for the
ride of a life time. "Proof of Life" explores
a genre that has not been overused to the point of boredom,
such as the sci-fi and devilish features of 1999. It discusses
a serious issue in the world today, which has not been
brought to the attention of the people to the extreme
that it should.
One
of the most intriguing characteristics of this film was
the film editing that gave the viewers the point of view
of both the relatives of the victim trying to bring the
man back and the victim himself, stuck in the situation
of horror and fear. This kind of a collage brought a refreshed
feeling to the screen that made every minute of the feature
worth watching.
While
with a mostly predictable finally, "Proof of Life"
keeps the audience on the edge of their seat by filling
in the gaps between the obvious with interesting segments
of action and drama.
This
film is a multi-genre production and will appeal to the
viewers of varying tastes, including drama, action, and
romance. All in all, this is a film that should not be
missed.
