THE
CELL
Synopsis
A
child therapist is given the opportunity to explore the
mind of a comatose serial killer in the hopes that by
understanding his thought patterns, she will discover
the location of his most recent victim before it is too
late. But once she enters his mind, will she be able to
get out?
Review
You
simply don't know where to start in criticizing a film
like "The Cell". Made out to produce a lot more
of an impact than it really did on screen, the film would
turn anyone sane into a psychotic maniac. While the scenes
shot "in the mind" of the killer are horrifically
disturbing, the lack of additional information or story
simply makes the movie a hellhole.
You are sitting in the theater feeling like you're in
a cell and can't wait to get out. Humorous moments did
occur, but exactly the wrong time, seeing as how this
wasn't a comedy. Much acting wasn't needed on anyone's
part, for the exception of Vincent D'Onofrio (Carl Stargher).
His role covered all of the characters in the film. While
you might think that playing a psycho is no trouble, it
takes extreme practice to get everything right, down to
the twitch of the eye.
One huge warning for all those parents and with kids out
there who take their young ones to rated R films: skip
this one. If you don't want your kids to be afraid to
go to sleep take them to see "Bring it On",
opening next week.
