THE
REPLACEMENTS
Synopsis
A
washed-up college quarterback (Reeves), a crazy L.A. cop
(Favreau), and a soccer player (Ifans) are hired by the
coach of the Washington Sentinels (Hackman) during the
1987 NFL strike to make up its replacement team. The odd
assortment of players fumble through the season, aiming
for victory.
Review
A
film that seems as though it is going to be a drooper,
with Keanu Reeves as the only supporting column for the
success turns out to be a "must see comedy".
How? you might ask, well it's simple.
Movies cause the audience to like them for a number of
reasons: acting, plot, setting, the way the story is portrayed.
In the situation of "The Replacements", the
story line is original to begin with. In addition the
assortment of characters from various backgrounds creators
a comical atmosphere that displays itself throughout the
entire period of the film.
In addition, usually, in a story with the leading characters
being a football quarterback and a head cheerleader, the
ending is expected to be farytail-like. However, Howard
Deutch, the director of the film, disproves that theory.
All in the the movie is interesting to watch. It pulls
you in just like when you watch Monday Night Football.
I just hope that the big boys in Hollywood don't think
that all the movies like will pick up as much $$$ and
don't start cranking them out like crazy.
