STAR
WARS: EPISODE II
ATTACK OF THE CLONES
Synopsis
Ten years after 'The Phantom Menace,' Jedi knight Obi-Wan
Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker
(Hayden Christensen) are assigned to protect Senator Amidala
(Natalie Portman) when the former queen is threatened.
While Obi-Wan attempts to uncover a dark plot that could
shatter the Republic, Anakin deals with a growing, forbidden
attraction to Amidala and an impatience to wield his great
power.
Review
Continuing the punch of the juggernaut that is the summer
blockbuster lineup, the second installment of the now
5-(completed) episode Star Wars sage rolled out this weekend.
Audience members camped out for days and bought tickets
by the dozens. While many came away with awe, some left
theaters with a bit of disappointment. Although with mixed
reactions, everyone had an opinion regarding the "Attack
of the Clones".
More
action-packed than its predecessor, the second episode
not only cleared more aspects of the original three films,
but in addition pointed out aspects of Episode I, which
seemed senseless and out of place. More links were made
regarding the story line and foreshadowing of the obvious
future.
The film strongly underlined the coming personality changes
and breakaways of young Anakin Skywalker, whom with his
constant battles with his mentor seems to be headed straight
for trouble. An unexpected side highlight of the film
was the aging Yoda taking up arms and surprising everyone
with his flying punch and kicks.
Overall the film is best watched following a screening
of the previous episodes simply because interest and understanding
will be raised. Although perfectly entertaining for a
first-time star warrior as well - generally a must see!
