AMERICAN
PIE 2
Synopsis
year after the wildly popular first film, Heather (Mena
Suvari), is off studying in Europe, which means that her
devoted boyfriend, Oz (Chris Klein), is left back home.
And he's 19 years old, which means that he's forced to
struggle with...temptation! Jason Biggs is back, too,
but no word as to whether he'll fornicate with a pie in
this one.
Review
They are back for a second time around - the extremely
popular everyday characters of the original and still
unbeatable "American Pie". While a year older in body,
the guys don't seem to be a year older in mind: one still
wants Nadia, another Stifler's mom, third Vicky, and last
just wants random reckless action.
While
trying to match the entertainment value and originality
of the first, "American Pie 2" misses by a short margin.
The characters were there, the story was there, the setting
was there, but something wasn't right. In the original
we were initially introduced to people every teenager
can easily relate to. However, the second installment
brought about the same characters (which are not described
or introduced again whatsoever and it is simply required
for the audience to have seen the first in order to understand
the second), yet now in less believable situations.
Perhaps
it seems that the target audience of the first feature
has grown during the past two years, while the characters
have only grown a year and matured none. All in all, the
film is fun to watch and you really should go see it.
However, don't expect to come out of the theater with
the same feeling as the original. Of course this does
not apply to everyone, so depend on your own personal
opinion and judgment.
