SAVE
THE LAST DANCE
Synopsis
Following
the death of her mother, a white small-town girl moves
in with her father in Chicago and enrolls in an urban,
predominantly black high school, where she falls in love
with a gifted and popular African-American student. Together,
they overcome racial hurdles, and she rediscovers her
dream to dance.
Review
When
two different worlds collide only sparks can fly! Thus
goes the tale of a suburban white girl and a ghetto black
youth. However, love sees no bounds and rediscovers itself
one time over another.
While
the idea of the film was not completely original,
the director was able to squeeze in some unique factors,
such as the sub-relationship with the father and the teen-mother
lifestyle. However, the main idea still originates from
the not-so-long-ago released "A Bronx Tale",
that starred Robert DeNiro. Many of the aspects of the
films overlap, such as the racial problems of relationships
and social dislikes of groups that push toward violence.
Even the fiery conclusion was predictable, with the car
exploding because of a defending assault, which was identical
to the Bronx film.
Yet,
the ghetto life and environment does drag the audience
into the plot and you come out talkin' mo' ghetto than
eve' befo' yo!
